Remembering Mothers at West Suffolk Crematorium

West Suffolk Cemetery & Crematorium will be remembering mothers next month as local families are invited to pay tribute to their maternal loved ones.

Between March 9 and 17 (excluding the weekends of 11-12 and 18-19 March), local people can visit the crematorium’s Meadow Café between 10am and 4pm for a free hot drink and slice of cake while they decorate a wooden pebble in memory of those they have lost.

The pebbles can then either be taken home or placed alongside the Covid-19 memorial or Mulberry Tree within the grounds of the crematorium.

Over the weekends of March 11 and 12, and 18 and 19 (19 March being Mother’s Day itself), wooden pebbles are available from the Book of Remembrance Room for people to decorate.

West Suffolk Cemetery & Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, the UK’s largest owner and operator of crematoria and cemeteries, with 37 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

Claire Butcher, Site Manager at West Suffolk Cemetery & Crematorium, said: “Mother’s Day can be a particularly poignant time for those who have lost their mum or mother-figure, or for mothers who have been bereaved of a child.

“We are inviting local families to visit us during this period and create a very personal keepsake in memory of their loved ones.

“We hope that visiting us will bring comfort to anyone who needs it during this special time of the year.“
